The 30-Day Yoga for Weight Loss Challenge is an instructional video course aimed at helping participants lose weight through yoga. The course also includes an e-book with weekly guides, exercise descriptions, and helpful tips for losing weight. The program is divided into 4 modules: Yoga & The Breath, Yoga & The Mind, Yoga & The Body, and Yoga & Beyond.

This video course is ideal for beginner yoga students, but experienced yogis will find it helpful with weight loss, as well. Participants will experience a comprehensive approach to weight loss that addresses physical exercise, mental outlook, emotional wellbeing, and behavioral patterns. Course Syllabus

Module 1: Yoga & The Breath

  • Students will learn why the breath is so important to yoga & weight loss
  • 3 breathing exercises are taught: 3-part yogic breath, breath of fire, and alternate nostril breath
  • The breath is also discussed as it relates to a physical yoga practice
  • A gentle yoga video sequence is provided that instructs breathing in time and rhythm with the physical yoga movements

Module 2: Yoga & The Mind

  • Students will discover how the mind can influence and affect their yoga practice, as well as their ability to lose weight
  • Students will learn how to bring the mind into harmony with the body, so that weight loss goals can be achieved
  • 2 exercises will be taught: counting breath and thought-stopping meditation
  • A yoga video sequence is provided that builds upon the postures taught in Module 1, while increasing physical fitness demands and focusing on mental outlook

Module 3: Yoga & The Body

  • Students will learn about basic weight loss guidelines, as they relate to the physical body
  • Students will learn body awareness in order to honor the body’s needs and limitations while losing weight
  • A body listening meditation is instructed that teaches students to connect deeply with the body’s needs for health and nourishment
  • A yoga video sequence is instructed that builds upon the postures of Modules 1 & 2, and focuses on burning calories, building physical fitness, and maintaining body awareness

Module 4: Yoga & Beyond

  • Students will learn to become self-guided in their yoga practice and weight loss journey through self-awareness
  • Students will understand the importance of self-efficacy, self-motivation, and enjoyment of exercise in order to continue with their weight loss goals
  • Students will select one breathing exercise or meditation and one yoga sequence to practice each day in Module 4, based on self-awareness and personal goals
  • A gratitude meditation is provided in the e-book to teach self-love and acceptance of the body

All course delegates are welcome to attend our regular, ongoing learning and inspirational events. We also hold regular inspirational events in Manchester and London for all students studying any of our courses. The events are a great way to watch live demonstrations of different techniques, learn new skills, have a practice with other students and to meet your tutors. Once you've signed up for any of our courses you will receive details of our different monthly events via email. If you cannot attend our events you can watch a live streaming of the event on our tv channel.
